I went to Indy in the rain
To a club that wasn’t ever gonna have me again
I had Chianti in the seat
90 miles an hour down a dead-end street
I was lonely. I was tired,
I work for myself and I still get fired
I came from Cleveland, with a heart of ****
Stung, pummeled, kicked and a bit
I love the Lord or at least I try
Where in the hell will I go when I die
I like to the Stones I like dogs
I like late-night drunken dialogues
I went to Indy in the rain
To a club that wasn’t ever gonna have me again
I had Chianti in the seat
90 miles an hour down a dead-end street
I turn my travels into rhyme
Life takes up a whole lotta my time
I still like bootie on the street I see
But I’m not as horny as I used to be
And thank God for that it’s a pain in the ****
Waiting for pangs of conscience to pass
Now I just drink except when I don’t
You’re either gonna get a good show or you won’t
The highway was alive with a dangerous man
Acting as foolish as he possibly can
I drove on to Indy to play me a show
Or maybe just play half a show and then go
Drove on away with my wine and my weed
Thinking a spanking is what I need
Found me a hotel and get off of the road
Got into bed and felt kinda cold
I didn’t get busted, nobody died
Got another tomorrow to show a new side
Throw out the bad and keep all the good
Right now I don’t even know if I could
All of my blessings and all of my gifts
Teetering on the edge of a cliff
Drinking and driving all day long
Dancing with the devil, looking for songs
I’ve done everything I could to kill myself
And take other people with me
By all rights I should be in prison
The Lord is my shepherd but Lord how I want
I went to Indy in the rain
To a club that wasn’t gonna have me again
I had Chianti in the seat
90 miles an hour down a dead-end street

1st time i heard DeathWish, i turned it off.
felt rushed, not the Isbell i've come to admire. really grab'd me when i took time to listen on the 2nd try. the writing on these songs stopped me in my tracks more than once. raw talent with just enough polish in the delivery.
thankyou Jason + 400 for another keeper swirlingmadness
